Course Description
Presenter: Angela Wilson

This workshop outlines low cost strategies and activities teachers can use to help adolescents with special needs become more effective and efficient learners in an inclusive environment, especially in English, History and Geography, as effective teaching practices are similar in these subjects. The strategies need frequent use, with guided practice, and frequent feedback, before the student will use them regularly and aim to motivate students with problem-based and exploratory activities.

What to bring:

An open mind, lots of questions to ask, a desire to share existing knowledge, pen and paper.

RatingComment
Although not necessarily on my subject (as I have no student with severe problems) I have gained insight into kids with special needs.
Great experience. I have a greater understanding of teaching.
Excellent. Great resources.
Fitted in so much. If only we had more time.
It was wonderful to have a very good overview of the students with special needs. What was learned today is useful to teach mainstream classes as well.
