Margo Gabsi Slip casting is a process used by studio potters, practising artists and within industry to produce dinnerware and other household objects. The process can be used to make one off pieces to mass produced objects.
This course is suitable for Year 7-12 Visual Arts, Visual Design, Ceramics , Special Ed and Primary Teachers. In this hands-on course participants will produce dinner ware to industry standard. Starting with raw materials participants will go through each step to produce a finished object. Participants wiil learn slip casting and slab building to produce contemporary dinnerware. A variety of decorative techniques, glazing, firing and OHS will be covered.The course is technical and practical in nature. The skills learnt are useful for application at all levels of education
What to bring:As this is a messy activity please wear old clothes and bring an apron. Wear closed in shoes. You will need a car to take the resources home with you. Please bring lunch as there is no food outlets nearby.Please bring 2 cardboard boxes and 2 newspapers for packaging.
