Presenter: Janette Loughrey

Suitable Years 7 - 12. Once a clay piece has been made, it requires great consideration to develop an interesting and effective surface. Participants will be introduced to several simple but inventive ways of printing on clay including 'clay block' printing, various types of sponge printing, 'reverse material' slip printing and stencil burning printing. Many of these techniques can be adapted to suit printing on other mediums such as paper, wood or cardboard. You will learn about a variety of ceramic products - coloured slips, underglazes and stains - and how to use them. Participants will leave the course with their own set of reference tiles and notes.

What to bring:

Wear suitable clothing. Please bring hand towel, pen and note paper. Course notes will be provided.

I'd like to thank the class for keeping up with the pace of work on such a hot day. Loved your test-piece results and information shared in our evaluations. Tile making and on-glaze decorating courses are planned for 2012.
