Course Description

Presenter: Janet Rentz

This course will explore strategies for teaching painting including a variety of approaches, media and techniques. These will address a sequence of learning and reflect identified learning objectives-a documentation of 'Just what exactly you are trying to get the students to do and learn'. Ideas for artmaking will be aligned with each of the frames and linked with art history/art criticism. Each painting activity will be positioned in a possible unit of work and ways for students to evaluate their own painting and make connections with the artwork of artists will be explored to help students to use art concepts and terms.

What to bring:

Pen and note paper. Art materials are provided.

I would have liked more rudimentary step info for teaching realistic painting to stage 4 students. There seemed to be a lot of abstraction focus but it was excellent.
	Great venue, lovely to have lunch and morning tea provided. Janet was extremely knowledgable and I fell I have learnt practical techniques to take forward into the classroom.
	Quite useful techniques and applications to lessons- more on realist paining would have been good.
