Presenter:
Margo Gabsi This one day introductory course will provide teachers with the opportunity to experiment with a range of sculptural materials. These include wire, paperpulp and fabric stiffeners. The materials will provide a wide range of sculptural and creative possibilities for the classroom. A number of set projects will be demonstrated and participants can chose to produce one or all of the sculptures demonstrated. The focus will be on using a combination of simple, readily available and relatively inexpensive materials and found objects in the construction of bugs, skeletal forms, and fantasy creations.
What to bring:As this is a messy activity please wear old clothes and bring an apron. Wear closed in shoes. You will need a car to take the resources home with you. Please bring lunch as there is no food outlets nearby. Please bring 2 cardboard boxes and 2 newspapers for packaging. Additionally you will need pliers and gloves to protect your hands when bending and cutting wire. Please go through your junk drawer and bring small objects that can be incorporated into small scale sculptures. For example large beads, rusty nuts, bolts and washers, small metal objects, springs, old clock parts. Small things only not more than 5cm in length.
