Darryn Kruse In the English classroom (Years 5-10) effective student exploration of text, of issues, and of language requires a range of thinking processes and levels of thinking. This program will explore a wide variety of classroom strategies that provide opportunity and support for student thinking in their study of English. Some of the strategies (the top five, three level guide, circuit brainstorm, creative construction, and soundscape) ask students to think more deeply and expansively about text; others (like diamond ranking, the concept game, graffiti carousel, affinity diagram, and priority 1-2-4) help students deal with issues work; others (including brute think, lotus diagram, text type matching & alphabetogories) support students to think about and improve their writing and their language use. These, and many more, techniques will be explored during this session. Many will be fun - all will be purposeful and ready for use in the classroom.
