



This course is designed to assist teachers preparing Stage 6 students for the HSC Visual Arts examination. Teachers will learn about curatorial and museum practice and how to unfold layers of meaning in artworks. Participants will develop strategies for teaching for teaching art critical practice so that it is creative, supported by historical evidence and free of dependence on textbook interpretations. Participants will explore how museum settings and artworld issues create meaning in art and in particular how curators and sponsors ideas affect how artworks are understood.
What to bring:An article that is no more than 3 years old, preferably recent,that is an example of art criticism together with an image of the work critiqued.
