Course Description

Presenter: Dr Sarah Lovesy

How do students become proficient at making their own dramas using theme playbuilding conventions and techniques and different narrative structures? And, how do teachers effectively lead this important learning in the classroom? This workshop considers these questions and will practically unpack the critical issues and challenges for teachers. It will deconstruct the learning process and will explore how teachers might address the teaching of playbuilding through focusing on creating narrative structures and exploring theme based dramatic ideas. The workshop will offer teachers some new ideas and will explore a range of useful strategies to engage and extend students as creative and independent playmakers in the classroom. This workshop will be useful for all middle and secondary class teachers wanting to explore new ideas and re-energise their playbuilding practice. Dr. Christine Hatton is a co-trainer for this workshop.
