Presenter:
Brian Sowerby The course is aimed at equipping high school teachers to tackle the complex issues of sustainable energy and climate change. The course will provide a balanced overview of the various options required to provide energy in the future while minimising environmental damage. Dr Sowerby favours no particular technology. The focus of the course will be on providing technical details on the various technologies and on conducting a realistic evaluation of these technologies. The course has strong links to various parts of the high school syllabus, particularly in Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Physics, Geography and Industrial Technology. The course will discuss motivations for changing our energy production and use followed by an assessment of our energy demands now and in the future and whether fossil fuels can sustainably meet these energy demands. Renewable technologies will be evaluated as well as alternative base-load technologies such as nuclear and geothermal.

Wide content with a good variety of topics. Stimulus material designed to promote discussion rather than b/w answers which I think is great.
Appreciate printed copies of notes/ Powerpoint, and the CD.
A good foundation of knowledge and reading/ website list for private/ work use.
So much information! Really informative in an area usually so full of bias - thank you. Thanks also for the notes and slides on disc.
Excellent range of accessible resources - while technical details are covered I would like to see them in more detail, relating to physics concepts.
