This course is designed to teach the skills of creating and printing Solar Plate Etchings. Participants will explore the aspects of Solar Plate printing including how to critically and historically interpret art informed by their understanding of the printmaking process. Participants will learn how to chose a strong image for the design methods. As well as learning the correct times needed to expose the plate to sunlight (UV light). Each participant will be instructed in printing the plate as a relief and intaglio print. Students will have the opportunity to create two solar plates.

What to bring:

Apron, gloves, images to be transferred (drawings, photographs), these need to be on a clear over head transparencies. I encourage the class to use found objects to expose onto the plates as well.
