Course Description
Presenter: Greg Heidke Michael Boyle Suzanne Henden Trina Beard
The Return to Teaching course will cover the following Strand and Content Areas as specified by QCT: Strand A - Effective Teaching Practice: learner centred pedagogy; literacy and numeracy; challenge for all learners; constructive student management; cooperative teaching practices.Strand B - Curriculum and Assessment: contemporary issues; reporting; assessment requirements in phases of learning. Strand C - Syllabus Implementation: syllabuses/guidelines relevant to phases of learning; updating teaching responsibilities.Strand D - Policies: ETRF Agenda; Child protection; current and emerging priority areas.Strand E - Legislation: awareness of legislation; anti-discrimination legislation;ethical frameworks;QCT Professional Standards for Teachers. Competency based assessment involves engagement in group activities, contribution to facilitator led discussions and completion of brief written reflections. Option to apply for accreditation to a Masters in Educ.- University of Qld
