Excellent content and scaffolding for teachers new to this topic
I learnt quite a lot from this course and will be able to apply the ideas and techniques to my classroom next year.
I liked the way I was able to work my own way through the course. I also think the time allotment was sufficient. I liked the different activities, they made me rethink and also seeing other teachers' comments and feedback helped me to broaden my views.
Very useful! We have implemented the ADAMANT process for grades 8-10 and have completed a workshop for all humanities staff. Thankyou!
I really enjoyed the course. It was really interesting and the activities were very useful.
Very useful ideas to use in my classroom to teach sources. The lessons we had to put in place worked well and the marking practise was great.
Great course, I will be recommending it to my CC all humanities staff.
The course provided some fantastic point of discussion. A range of useful resources were introduced, and there were certainly points raised that let me to reflect on my own teaching style. I have certainly come away with practical knowledge that I can incorporate in my own lessons. I did find the 'tasks' a little repedative.
This was a good course that gave a clear overview of source analysis and core narrative vs interpretation. Very satisfied
Some great exercises which will be useful in the teaching of Modern History and some resources I will also be able to try with younger grades.
I found the content both helpful and well presented. It was excellent to be able to trial the different teaching strategies and then also be part of peer feedback. It increased my learning so much more than an intensive could ever have done. This information should be taken inthe context of a teacher at a small rural school.
There was not as much focus on analysing sources as expected. A great deal of the focus was on marking proforma. While this was useful, it was not what was expected.
i got a lot out of this course. I felt it gave me a renewed interest in the use of source material in class and greater understanding of how to mark essays more comprehensively. I also felt that the course material was appropriate and even stimulating at this difficult time of the year. Good course all round!
I thought the course was excellent! It had some great ideas to use in classroom lessons as well as practise in effective assessment marking.
Found some of the material useful but some also difficult to follow.
I enjoyed the course - it fulfilled my expectations and allowed me as an experienced History teacher to feel validated by reinforcing that my methods and assessment tools are still relevant and reflective of current practice. I learnt some useful new strategies which we will implement in our school in the future. I will also be encouraging my Humanities staff to engage with these courses in the future.
Helpful, especially seeing the examples of grading standards.
I enjoyed this course and found the information and exercises to be useful. I wish that I had realised that we would be required to complete in class tasks prior to enrolling in the course I was not not currently teaching a History unit and was therefore unable to test as I would have liked to. I would have waited and done the corse at another time if I had realised this.
Did not feel that the course was as relevant to my teaching as I would have liked. Focused primarily on Junior History skills, whereas I would have liked more on the Senior History skills.
Well structured, very informative. PDF documents were terrific. Sample marking very useful. Feedback from course coordinator on participant comments in forums would be beneficial.
Excellent
I liked the delivery of this course, being able to work at my own pace when I had time really suited me. At times I found the content we were expected to learn a bit basic. I would recommend this course to someone who has either been away from uni for a while or someone who is new to History as a teaching area. Very professional overall.
Very useful. I enjoyed the videos which were jsut the right length and the sheets were useful for my 12 Modern class for WW1 assessment source study.
Some really interesting material
I found the sample tasks and annotated assessment items very useful. The scaffold approach to essay writing and approaches to source analyisis very useful for staff and students alike. I will be creating anchor charts to display some of the acronyms/scaffolds etc. Very useful teaching and learning tools. Thankyou.
Was excellent for me to learn about History (not my subject area but one that I am a HoD for)in this manner. The simple, yet succinctly explained aspects of History were easy to learn and then implement in the classroom.
I have found this course extremely helpful to such an extent that at Ormiston College we are adopting quite a bit of the course in our Humanities Department
This course was extremly useful for developing HSIE strategies.
