RatingComment
Excellent. The readings were very interesting
Needs updated leadership materials - parrallel leadership
Very interesting readings gave a lot to think about.
Course was well presented. Readings relevant and easy to read and decipher. Presenter was accessible via email and regularly was in contact
Was a good, useful course- the reading was thought provoking and the tasks all relevant and it was good to compare my thoughts to others
I found the course to be reaffirming of how I operate in my department. It also gave me a few insights of how I can implement some new ideas.
Informative and not over demanding on time during a busy time of the year. I've picked up a number of valuable tips I can easily put into practice.
I found this course very useful in enabling me to strengthen the knowledge and understanding of my roles and responsibilities as a HOD. It allowed me to reflect on my achievements and plan for the future.
The course was great. Fabulous relevant readings that have real ideas and strategies and discussions. Can't wait to implement my new ideas properly next year
I really enjoyed the course. I liked the fact that it was online. I liked the flexibility of the course. I liked the opportunity to reflect on my leadership, especially my goals for the future. I found that the readings weren't onerous, and were relevant and interesting. I liked the forum topics - they were well directed.
I enjoyed this course very much. I found it thought-provoking and it certainly challenged me to reflect on the way I manage the Department.
Great reading and very relevant to needs of myself - just appointed HOD. Enjoyed having to write up using findings and also when time permitted reading others comments.
I enjoyed reading the content and completing the activities. Being able to manage my time around other commitments (HSC marking) was a benefit of doing an on-line course
A good course, particularly in the field of leadership
Helpful material
Although forums were very helpful, there was little communication with Kim, that extended our observations and learning.
I really enjoyed this course. The readings were both challenging and insightful and I feel as though I have learnt a lot as I have reflected on both my current practices as a leader and what I need to do to improve further.
Great. Loved the readings - very thoughtful. Liked the way we could work through at our own leisure
It made me think out side the square. I have applied some of the techniques already with a degree of success.
Completing professional readings and reading other HoD comments and analysis of current issues in leadership was very rewarding.
relevant readings and ideas. Reinforced methods in place and seemed to increase confidence of participants who declared that they were on the right track
Outstanding course. Realy enjoyed completing the readings, making some comments and reading other peoples blogs. Struggled at the end due to the intense pressure of deadlines at this time of the year.
I found it difficult to get feedback on my learning, but found the material excellent.
the course allowed an opportunity to read the theory and then reflect upon current practice whcih can be daunting be at the same time appropraite.
Online was convenient but i am a peoples person so would have benefitted from actual human contact. The readings were good, perhaps a little too abbreviated. I work best with a broad spectrum of information. I could have made greater use of reading the comments by others but, because I had no face to the name and no real contact with the others doing the course I was not really motivated to respond to their blogs. As a HOD of an area other than a KLA I also had to adapt some of the material.
great course considering all aspects of leadership. Kim was very helpful.
A course worth taking to further develop skills and or for a beginner HOD.
Course was good. Glad I pace myself but very happy to get reminders from Kim. Readings were thought provoking and forum discussion were good.
Found the readings very worthwhile and appropriate for the course.
Some insightful readings and some great hands on activities
Very difficult not being interactive, i would have preferred to bounce ideas around and be able to discuss issues concerning the role of HoD. It was very boring and frankly most of the text was purely academic and useless in ragards the the role and problems a new HoD faces.
thought provoking & very relevant
Very helpful in terms of developing my understanding of what effective leadership is and how to lead effectively... would've been terrific if it were somehow integrated with a prac component for those of us not in the advantageous position of being able to engage closely with the day-to-day activities of the HoD.
The content was relevant and useful. If anything it was "light on".... I expected more content and more tasks as well as just doing blogs and reading other people's blogs.
I found the course mentally stimulating and thought provoking. The readings were relevant and of practical value - reflecting quality rather than quantity. I found the Blog to be particularly valuable in that a wide range of opinions and perspectives was able to be shared. I have made note of some advice for future reference! Shared knowledge and experience are powerful. I am all the richer for having done the course, with more to draw on to be effective in my role.
The content was interesting and the articles varied the use of blogging was excellent
Readings were interesting and pertinent to my position as HOD of English. The forums were a great way to share and learn from other HODS. I have some new ways of looking at issues and also feel that I am doing quite a good job. I felt well supported throughout the course, thank-you.
Very useful and informative
An excellent course which has really assisted me to understand different facets of the role as HOD.
Helped me to reflect on leadership skills.
Inspiring readings; Relevant tasks
'I really loved being able to read up on leadership principles in my own time and I appreciate the ethos behind the course. I especially loved Hargreave & Fink's writings about moral-based, student-centred learning communitites that focus on sensible long term development. This resonated strongly for me as it is something that I feel very deeply about, as every kid has so much potential as a person that is often over-looked in the pursuit of academic progress.
The research articles and overall information about HODs was specific and informative. I gained a broader view on many aspects involving staffing and management.
It made me think about many areas. It also took longer than the 6 hours. I enjoyed it.
A really well structured and thought provoking course.
Overall a positive experience as long as I kept up the reading each week. The most valuable part of the course was reading comments from other particpants.
