Presenter:
Glen Pearsall A new curriculum means not just teaching new material, it also means teaching in new ways. Whenever significant change to curriculum frameworks take place teachers must find practical ways to make this material come alive to young learners. In this ONLINE workshop participants will investigate easy-to-use strategies designed specifically to address the demands of the new Australian English Curriculum and its three key strands: Language, Literature and Literacy. Participants will explore engaging activities for teaching language skills, discover innovative strategies for examining, responding to and creating literature and discuss resources and techniques for teaching students to approach texts with confidence and fluency. We also discuss ways to reduce correction load in this most time-intensive of subjects. This workshop is a great starting point for those wishing to learn about the Australian Curriculum and what it will really mean for their role as a classroom English teacher.

This was a very useful and practical course. I actually enrolled my whole department and it is exciting to now see and hear about them using some of the activities and new knowledge that they gained. Thank-you so much!
I thought the course was interesting, the videos were great and the suggested activities seemed very good. I was not able to use them, at our school where it's a very set curriculum, but could try to incorporate them when we have our Aus Curriculum release date soon.
Interesting. Did not really teach much about the Australian Curriculum as I thought. Practical and worthwhile ideas though.
A very practical course with lots of useful activities to take away.
Very useful and I gathered some great ideas from reading posts from other members
I enjoyed the course, especially the wealth of ideas for use in the classroom. I would have liked some more direct links to interpeting the national curriculum - especially the distinction between language, literacy and literature.
I picked up some great ideas to use with my classes. I don't necessarily think I feel more confident with the new curriculum though.

Everything was really useful. I really liked being able to hear the feedback from the other teachers about how the activities were working for them. The ones that I got a chance to try were extremely successful.
I found this course very usefull in the different strategies that were shown and ways to help low level learners
I ENJOYED THE COURS AND IT HAS ME HUNGERING FOR MORE ON THE NEW CURRICULUM:-)
I appreciated the range and variety of teaching ideas and techniques, I did not gather any new understanding of the national curriculum but I did stop and reflect on my teaching tools.
'I really enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on the Australian Curriculum. I did enjoy learning about a whole new range of teaching strategies and thinking about how other teachers use them and how I can implement them in my own online classroom. I would have liked to have come away with a more definite understanding of how each of these strategies clearly refelected the aims of the Australian Curriculum.loved the online format.
