Presenter:
Morris Needleman In 2012 we will see the most radical changes to the HSC mathematics examinations in 30 years. All of this is to happen before the National Curriculum sees the light of day.
This course will fully prepare teachers for the changes. We will workshop the writing of original assessment task questions, ensuring we meet the new guidelines.
Teachers will leave with resources to meet the challenge of the new HSC in 2 Unit
mathematics.

Opportunity to talk with colleagues from other schools very useful. Pleasantly surprised with the hands on/ involved aspect of the course. Great to come away with so many resources. Not a lecture, a guided discussion. Difficult to see screen from back.
Loved the opportunities to talk to others and discuss our ideas on the skills ans techniques vs reasoning and communicating. Also time allowed on creating questions. Ideas of scanning all resources and emailing them is fantastic. USB of resources also fabulous. Really, really valuable! Thank you!!!
Good to break down existing tasks to see that this new exam structure does not require us to reinvent the wheel.
Very practical, well paced and informative. I really enjoyed the day. Something that rarely happens at a PD event. Hope to meet you again at another presentation.
The group work on assessment talk writing was a great opportunity to share ideas and learn from others.

I found the 2 morning sessions quite informative - eased my concerns re components and weighing etc. I did not find the afternoon session as helpful, but overall a useful day.
Really helped me to understand the concepts of reasoning and communication, thanks (interesting to discuss maths practices rather than just classroom management).
Very valuable
As always an excellent collaborative day with Morris
I was quite impressed. What I hoped for, I got (full info re changes to HSC). Also, going through a paper with others and writing new Qs were good activities to do in the group.
