Every teacher counts: addressing underperformance and negotiating for improvement
Presenter:
Denise Skidmore Des Gorman Graeme Valler Martin Culkin Noelle Burdekin Rashmi Watson Rita Ellul Tom Hardy There is compelling evidence that the quality of teaching profoundly impacts on the learning outcomes of students. Where students have less effective teachers over several years the impact will be both cumulative and residual. This workshop examines the critical systems and processes that support high quality teaching throughout a school in order to optimise the performance of all and to address in-school variation. The workshop also provides opportunities for participants to consider the challenges of securing accountability and the critical leadership actions in addressing underperformance.
The day will cover:
- responding to the challenge of underperformance
- understanding and motivating challenging colleagues
- problem solving approaches and strategies
- preparing for formal procedures
- appropriate written documentation.

| Participants engaged in all activities and shared experiences. A 'Critical Mass' of executive from one school proved valuable in panning action for the school. |
