Course Description
Presenter: Richard Andrew

A 1-day face-to-face course plus 3 hrs online. Are you tired of dealing with students who lack enthusiasm in your maths lessons? Do you find that many students lack perseverance, give up readily on tasks and/or become bored / disruptive at the very point when they could learn something of value? Are you the one doing all the hard work in your lessons? This course provides a model for teaching which can be applied to any secondary mathematics topic. The approach is designed to significantly improve 1) student engagement, 2) mathematical understanding and 3) your classroom learning environment. During the course we will explore numerous ready-made resources which can be implemented 'the next day'. We will also explore ways to effectively deal with greater 'student spread', a common byproduct when we depart from the traditional teaching and learning approach in mathematics. All elements of the course are in line with the Australian Curriculum, especially the proficiency strands.

What to bring:

Essential: Yourself and Optional: Computer with own 'conceptual' resources
