Master this easy clay slab building technique in a day. This technique is ideal for use in the secondary classroom and can be used for any subject matter. It is a quick, spontaneous and expressive method of using clay. In this one-day hands-on course participants will make a large scale figurative sculpture up to 70 cm in height. Participants will be taken through the process of developing ideas through to finished object. Additionally technical aspects of clay work will be covered including making, drying, decorating, glazes, clay recycling, Occupational Health and Safety, kiln packing and firing. This course is suitable for beginners and those already experienced with clay. The skills learnt in this course are a valuable foundation for senior art students.

What to bring:

As this is a messy activity please wear old clothes and bring an apron. Wear closed in shoes. You will need a car to take the resources home with you. Please bring lunch as there is no food outlets nearby. Please bring 1 cardboard box and 2 newspapers for packaging.
