The most important factor contributing to teaching and learning in schools is the teacher. As teachers we are always searching for ways in which to develop the learning of our students. This course draws on the research of John Hattie to present the most effective teaching practices and how to develop them in the classroom. Teachers will be provided with a number of strategies and methods for implementing effective feedback, assessment of cognitive ability, instructional quality and questioning, among others. This course will cover the most effective teaching practices as well as demonstrate excellent classroom programs to develop such practices. The practices and content subscribes to the Quality Teaching Framework where learning is promoted through intellectual challenge, quality environment and making the significance of the learning transparent. A range of scaffolds and resources will be supplied for teachers to use and share with colleagues.
