Richard Andrew (Previously called 'Teaching for Understanding Stage 5 Maths Course One') This workshop is a detailed examination of a quality teaching approach within Stage 5 Mathematics. The basis to teaching mathematics conceptually lies in creating a learning environment which enables students to become engaged, work mathematically and make the mathematical connections necessary for conceptual understanding to occur. Open-ended questioning, assessment for learning and teaching with an inquiry approach are key strategies which will be demonstrated through the topics Coordinate Geometry, Data, Probability and Algebra.
What to bring:Please bring a pen and note paper and if possible a USB stick. Also a calculator would be beneficial.
