General Description

This course will prepare teachers for teaching the harder material in the current Extension 2 course. Difficult material from the course will be presented and taught to the attendees. Assessment task preparation will be discussed. Strategies to maximise HSC performance will be revealed. Teachers will receive a variety of resources which they can use to teach several of the more difficult topics from this course. As a result of attending this course, teachers can tackle teaching Extension 2 Mathematics with much more confidence.

This course would also suit schools and teachers who are seeking to improve their students' results in HSC Mathematics.

 

Audience

for secondary Teacher with little or no experience with teaching this subject.

Completing “Preparing to teach Year 12 Extension 2 Mathematics- for teachers new to this subject” before 4th February 2022 under NESA’s interim arrangements will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and assessment of NSW curriculum addressing standard descriptors  6.2.2,  3.4.2,   3.3.2,  2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Morris Needleman

Morris has previously occupied the position of Head of Mathematics and Mathematics Technology at Reddam House, Kincoppal Rose Bay and The Emanuel School in Sydney. Qualified with an M.A. in pure mathematics and a B. Ed. (maths), Morris has experience teaching in a wide variety of schools and has delivered many professional development courses for mathematics teachers both in Australia and overseas. Morris was recognised in 2006 with an Outstanding National Achievement for Excellence by a Teacher the National Awards for Quality Schooling. Morris has also been designated by Apple as a Distinguished Educator.
