Course Description

We’re very fortunate to work with the next generation of music educators at the Sydney Conservatorium. We’re thrilled and amazed at how they’re using technology in their teaching so we’ve asked one of them to share what they’re up to with the in-service community of classroom music teachers. In this webinar, we’ve asked Abby Fuller, a 3rd year music ed student to share the ideas, approaches, and resources she and her classmates are using to create the next generation of music lessons. We hope that, like us, you’ll be amazed and enthused with new ideas to try in your classroom too.

Gig Based Learning (GBL)

Gig Based Learning (GBL)

Gig Based Learning is a musically informed, philosophically driven learning design and facilitation process. It gives teachers tools to provide students with opportunities for active, engaging, real-world music(k)ing with/for an authentic audience. Building on the integrated learning experiences model - performance, composition, musicology, aural, GBL puts all of these experiences to work for the benefit of producing a great gig, contextualising the learning for the student so that it’s ‘just in time’ not ‘just in case’
