Sound walls that teach the strategies
A sound wall is a classroom display that is based on the phonology of our language; the different speech sounds (phonemes) are displayed rather than just the 26 letters of the alphabet are in a word wall. A sound wall is typically set up in two sections: vowels and consonants. Each phoneme represented includes an articulatory image and example words that display the different graphemes for each phoneme.
During this full day course, participants will go through the 44 phonemes. We will examine the graphemes used for each phoneme and the strategies for when each one is used.
We will cover over 25 spelling strategies that help to spell over 100000 words.
There will be many practical ideas of how to implement this in your classroom straight away.
Teachers will receive the sound walls.
