General Description
The Power of Calm course is designed to equip teachers with a set of perspectives, skills and strategies to identify when stress is inhibiting performance and, when it is, to help reduce it in a simple, evidence based and effective way. The course does this does this by:
Raising awareness: Helping teachers understand the signs of stress and when it is affecting your ability to perform at your best.
Educating: Helping teachers appreciate that stress is not a situational reality, but your own physical response to a situation… one you can learn to effectively control.
Inspiring Change: Equipping teachers with a set of evidence based strategies and skills that can be used to reduce stress and add an extra element of calm, clarity and control to your approach, both inside and outside the classroom. This allows you to be more effective in discharging your responsibilities and improves your own professional and personal experience.
An additional benefit of the course is to raise teacher awareness as to when students are exhibiting classic signs and symptoms of stress. Students can then be referred to appropriate staff members and resources for guidance or can benefit from the tools and perspectives offered by the course.
Teachers who do this course will leave with 3 key pieces of knowledge. You will understand:
1. WHAT stress actually is, in a real physical and practical sense
2. WHY stress matters so much to your performance and your students' success
3. HOW it can address it in a simple, scientific and effective way
Once you have completed the theory modules of the course, you will have the opportunity to do an additional practical module, involving 14-days of guided stress reduction using a powerful app and a set of supporting tools. This is designed to help you take the next step and turn knowledge into better performance and wellbeing.
NOTE: This practical module is optional and is not included in the 5 hours attached to this course.
