General Description

This course will help you understand the essential foundations of STEM teaching and learning and provide opportunities to help build knowledge, skills and confidence to take on STEM in your classroom. You’ll learn:

 

What STEM is and how to use STEM to develop 21st Century learning skills in Secondary years.

How to identify STEM problems and challenges in real world contexts.

Practical suggestions to guide you through the principles of STEM teaching and learning, including:

* Incorporating a multidisciplinary approach; * Making connections to students’ world and interests; * Taking risks and learning from mistakes; * Encouraging collaboration and teamwork.

Completing “Introduction to Secondary STEM ” before 4th February 2022 under NESA’s interim arrangements will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and assessment of NSW curriculum addressing standard descriptors   2.1.2, 3.1.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
