Course Description

This webinar is based on the book Practical Reading Strategies

Practical Reading Strategies explores six research-based strategies for engaging students in reading and improving their reading skills:

  • Making Connections
  • Visualising
  • Questioning
  • Inferring
  • Summarising
  • Synthesising

The book was developed as a result of a Department of Education and Training funded Community of Practice which studied what happens "behind the eyes" of good readers.

This session includes a detailed discussion of all six strategies plus examples of classroom activities which are suitable in any subject area where students are required to read.
